"Veritati Fir Fer" "Truth Strength Courage" Ireland's National Seminary and Pontifical University Motto
On Saturday morning March 12th, 11 members of Garda AC congregated in anticipation within the hallowed corridors and walls of St. Patricks College, Maynooth to run in the AIB/NUI 4 mile cross country race. On a beautiful Spring morning, prayers were offered for the souls of those condemned to the battle. The AGS flag flew highest with Jason Miley embellishing his growing reputation, romping home in 23:03 to take 11th place. Anthony Malone kept the faith claiming 28th in 24:50. Karl McKenna placed 50th, crossing the ticker in 26:04. Ian Redican continues to worship at the BHAA alter, despite the arduous training he is engaged in for his charity run from The Spire in Dublin, to Eyre Square in Galway. Snaps still managed to squeeze in an impressive run of 26:36, with Joe Corcoran finding sanctuary in 27:13. John Griffin continued his return to grace with 27:25. Tir na nOg Ferry ordained 28:44, and Jer Moloney completed the Stations in 31:21. Dave Lynch and Hugh Reddy revived their fire and brimstone battle posting 35:45 and 36:06, respectively.
While the race took place within the confines of Ireland's National Seminary and Pontifical University, the Garda AC participants certainly benefited from some well meaning prayers. Shades, Bugsy and Hightower took first place in Category A, while Ian, Joe and John placed first in Category C. Mick, Jer and Dave completed a hat trick of team prizes for Garda AC taking third in Category D.
Of note you may have spied that AGS began the race with 11 disciples but sadly only 10 managed to find salvation. Kevin"Ronseal"Grogan was forced to withdraw on the first lap with stomach problems. Vatican sources have confirmed that it was not another case of Immaculate Conception.
