NATIONAL VETS T&F
18 August 2010

George Maybury continues to do AGS proud having produced a determined performance last weekend at the the NATIONAL VET's TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Tullamore.  George took silver in the V5 800m in a time of 2:25:23.  George's medal collection must surely rival that of the Kilkenny hurling team by now.

Barry Malone
of AGS has maintained a praiseworthy start to his athletics career with a run of 22:10 at the inaugural KINNEGAD 5K road race which was held in the Co. Westmeath town on Wednesday evening August 11th.  Barry as reported is one of AGS's newest recruits and is improving with every outing on the competitive circuit.

This coming weekend will be one of the busiest on the calendar of AGS 2010.   Best of luck to all our participants in this weekends FRANK DUFFY 10 MILE in the Phoenix Park and the GAELFORCE WEST 6 event in Mayo.  Both events have attracted huge numbers from AGS and reports will be uploaded in due course.
The Frank Duffy 10 Mile RR is recognised as a truely tough 10 mile road race where the hills of the Park often scupper PB efforts.  Way out west, in Tayto country,, the Gaelforce Adventure Race will involve a 15k trail run, 1.6k kayak across Killary Harbour, 3.5k trail run, 32.5k cycle, 4.5k run up and down the celestial Croagh Patrick, and a 12.5k cycle into Westport.
However if you think the Gaelforce competitors are a little cracked they are mere pussycats when compared to the challenge facing 3 of AGS's most stubborn and crazy athletes.  Kevin Grogan, John McDonnell and Adrian Tucker all travel out to France for the MOUNT BLANC MOUNTAIN RUNNING FESTIVAL at the end of the month.  Full reports on their exploits will be posted.
Best of luck to all our athletes.
