On Sunday July 18th, IMRA held it's inaugural half marathon in the Dublin Hills. This virgin race had over 200 participants
The event started and finished within the majestic surroundings of Marlay Park. The course wound its way up through the nature trail in Massy's Estate before joining a newly created section of the Dublin Way though Cruagh Wood, ascending the spectacular Tibradden Ridge trail, joining the Wicklow Way and returning to Marlay Park. This route had 820m of climb, and covered a variety of terrain. On a warm summers afternoon, the Father of the AGS mountain running, Adrian Tucker led home the AGS team, finishing 17th, in a high quality field. He was followed home by the pretender to the throne Mick Harkin in 72nd, as he continues his preparations for Gaelforce in August. Kathleen Cheshire made up our Holy Trinity, ghosting home with a credible 125th place overall.
