BHAA IRISH PRISON SERVICES 5k TRAIL RACE
11 July 2010

Mother Nature continues to smile pleasantly upon us and it was no different on Tuesday evening June 29th at The Irish Prison Services, BHAA, inaugural 5k trail race which was run on web like paths through the Phoenix Park.  First to cross the ticker tape was the ever improving Dermot Haugh in 20:46, with our resilient John Griffin just 16 seconds further back in 21:01. Jeremiah Moloney continues to clock up the miles, and he ran 21:24 for the course.  Owen Keane made his third appearance for the team after previous outings at The K Club 10k and Intel 10k.  Owen ran 23:30, an average pace of 4:42 per km.  It was inspiring to witness another break his duck  when Padraig McCormack made his debut running 25:47. John Burke cruised around the double loop in 26:00 flat, and Hugh Reddy fresh from his dash in Dunshaughlin ran 26:48.  To our delight, the team of Dermot, John and Jeremiah took first place in Category C, ahead of AIB and Viatel, while Owen, John and Hugh placed sixth in Category D.  When we field six or more runners Garda Athletics is usually a category winner.  Well done lads.

The next BHAA outing is the DCC 5K at Irishtown stadium on July 14th.
