BHAA 10K @ THE K CLUB

On Saturday last, the inaugural BHAA K Club 10k road race, was held.  Conditions on the day were ideal for running and over 350 runners entered the race which was run on a very fast accurate course within the K Club grounds.  While there was palpable enthusiasm before the start it was mixed with a little regret as this race replaced one of the most unique road races in the country, The BHAA KEPAK 8m RR, which is being run no more.   This course is conducive to setting PB's and many athletes achieved this goal on the day.  The Garda teams performed heroically with Ronan Hartnett and Paul Moran finishing in the top ten in a very competitive race.  They were 7th and 9th in 34:51 and 35:10 respectively.  Next across the line was Joe Corcoran in 40:03, followed by Kevin Grogan in 42:42. John Griffin clocked 46:29, with Jermiah Moloney crossing the line in 47:53.  Two debutant's namely Owen Keane and John Burke, provided great excitement with a sprint finish. Owen had 1 second to spare over his close friend with 50:50 and 50:51.  Hugh Reddy ran a steady 58:03.   Well done to all.
