MARATHON NEWS

Congratulations to both of our marathoners who travelled north (not to ASDA) but to Belfast to trek 26.2 miles around the Old Smoke city, on Monday last May 3rd.  Ronan Hartnett ran a strong 2:55:57 in his first marathon since his knee surgery, finishing 33rd.  Noel Loughran skipped around in 3:17:29 which I have been informed is a new PB for Noel, so congrats on that one Lockie.

On Friday next 6 members travel to Prague for the 5th The European Police Marathon Championships.  These Championships are held every 4 years in an alternative city by incorporating the police race into an indigenous marathon.  The Garda Team is coached by Jim Gaughan and consists of Paul Moran, Mick Dunne, Aidan Lanigan, Joe Robinson, Lorraine Manning and Anthony Malone.  Best of luck to them all on Sunday and a race report will follow in due course.
