BHAA RTE 5m RR

On Saturday, May 1st 2010, the annual RTE 5m road race took place at the RTE complex, Montrose.  Over 430 turned out for the race. Some participants wore black as a mark of respect for the late, Mr. Gerry Ryan, ( Ar dheis D� go raibh a anam).  This race usually attracts a very large crowd as the course is a series of loops on a very flat course.  Many target this race for setting PB's and 2010 was no exception.  Leading home our Garda contingent on the day was debutant Bill Egan in 31:02, closely followed by the returning to competition Damian Gannon in 31:44.  Mick Harkin also returned to racing after his exertions in the Connemarathon running 33:48.  John Griffin ran 34:47 and Bridget Buckley was our ran 36:50. John Burke is another who has recently returned to the BHAA scene after a long absence, ran 40:05 and Hugh Reddy continued his steady progress with 42:36.  Our teams of Damian, Mick and John finished 3rd in Class C, with Bridget, John and Hugh taking the bronze also, this time in Class D.  Well done to all and keep the flag flying.
