Success for Morven

Further Success for local Junior Sailor

As part of her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, junior sailor Morven MacLean decided to set herself a sailing challenge (physical section) with our Training Officer, Ewan McLellan, as her mentor. Morven attended five race training weekends over the six months and enthusiastically attended club sessions throughout the season. Over the six months, she improved her sailing skills to the extent of winning gold and silver medals at the Scottish Club Championships held at Loch Tummel in August.

Morven spent the first week of her October half term holiday at Loch Insh Watersports Centre where she attained her RYA Stage 4 certificate.

Well done, Morven. We would like to encourage other young people who are looking to do their DofE to consider sailing as one of their challenges. If this is something you would be interested in doing, please contact the Gairloch Boat Club or your D of E representative in the High School.
