1ST ANNUAL AGM MEETING
Many thanks to all those who came to our first annual general meeting on October 6th. . It was great to see so many you come out to air your concerns and lend your support to the library.
Note: please check the F.o.O.L website for the updated minutes and schedule of upcoming events.
A quick summary of the meeting, for those who don’t want to read minutes, follows. I will then, hopefully, be able to answer some of the questions which were raised.
SUMMARY OF MEETING
A brief history of F.o.O. L was given, officers were introduced and voted on to serve the next year and constitutional changes were voted on and accepted. The participants voted on allowing a £5 yearly subscription to be charged to members to cover basic costs. Issues were brought up and discussed as follows:
FUNDRAISING: Different ideas were mentioned: scheduled coffee mornings combined with book sales from donated books; an on-line book sales business associated with ABE books; small grants.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
There are endless opportunities for volunteering and I have answered all enquiries to our website. Our board is trying to prioritize needs before we match volunteers to jobs. Please be patience----I hope that I have reached all of you who have offered your services via our website, e-mail, letter or in-person. WE WILL get back to you. You are very VALUABLE to us and we can’t move forward without our volunteers. If you have an idea you would like to go forward with, contact us and we will do our best to help you get started and support you in your endeavors.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
We currently have 6 paid members. We would love it if everyone who supports the library happily gave £5 to the cause. Memberships are good for a year (going from AGM meeting to AGM meeting). You can bring in your money to the library or mail a cheque to the Chair at: West Dallens, Appin, PA38 4BL. Receipts will be issued. You don’t not need to be a paid member to help!!!!!!!!
IMMEDIATE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The board has set dates for future coffee fundraising mornings. They will be on the last Saturday of the month from 10am-1pm, beginning in January. We will need people to bake and run the sales. E-mail or call (730 666) or leave your name at the library.
Book Sales: We are beginning to organize the bookselling business. We have two volunteers for this and will need more. Are you a bibliophile who likes this sort of thing?

NEEDED:
Coffee/tea urn for coffee mornings.
We also need utensils (spoons and forks).
Sandwich sign board: Can anyone build us one?
TREASURER: Would anyone like to take on this job? You get to meet once a month for one hour to give a quick summary of accounts. Once a year you need to send a summary of expenses to OSCR (Scotland’s charitable arm). You also get to write occasional F.o.O.L cheques. Gee, think of that---spend someone else’s money for once!

WHAT’S HAPPENING? If you wander into the library anytime soon you will hopefully notice a few changes. The children’s section has been painted with bright, cheery colours. The windows and entryway have been cleaned and are sparkling. Notice boards will be installed soon above the copy machine and in the entryway. We have also added a set of recycle bins. What do you think of the changes?
