Welcome to the website of the Friends of Milton Road Library

We are a group who support the Milton Road Library in Cambridge and want to ensure we retain it as a local library but also that it develops as a community resource.

Our latest talk is by an inspiring speaker on how people with disabilities can excel in sports. Please click on EVENTS link on the left for details

Update on Plans for Library & Community Hub

The County Council has now moved on with their project to replace our library with a new one, complete with community facilities as well.

The original library building closed on 10th November and for now we have a temporary facility in a mobile library further up Ascham Rd by the school. There is a good range of books, including for childen, and the same hours as before:

Monday and Wednesday 10am to 5pm

Thursday and Friday  3pm to 5pm

Saturday 10am to 3pm

The Coulson Building Group were appointed as the design and build contractors for this project. One of the strong features of our library, the entrance way portico, is to be saved and reconstructed on the new building.

The contractors are now about to demolish the old building. Construction should be completed and the new building open within a year.

Story Sharing and evening talks provided by the Friends

By kind permission of Milton Road School the Friends are continuing with Story Sharing and Evening Talks at the school while we wait for the new facility to be built. Please see the other pages of this web site for details.
