Full House
22 July 2009

FULL HOUSE gave us a really special night, not surprisingly to a full house.  They consist of Ian Jones, Nick Mitchell, Chris Lee, Dave Russell and Mark Woolley, and come from Chester where they run their own folk club.

They did two 45 minute spots packed with a wonderful variety of songs, and an equally varied succession of instruments.  The end of the club room looked like a music shop.   Everything they did was beautifully and thoughtfully arranged, and despite it being an accoustic set, every note and every word was clearly heard.   They got the balance just right.   Everyone who has performed against loud and soft instruments knows how difficult that is.

All five members of the group were featured, and the vocals were shared around, so all their talents were on show.   It is refreshing to find no-one hogging the limelight.   Everyone was impressed, and left the room with big smiles of satisfaction.  We will definitely be having them back next year.

Nice blokes, obviously good friends, nice music, and they had no trouble filling the club.

There was only negative which the band should take on board:  The club is new to the Norton, and there were people downstairs in the bar and outside in the gardens (hot night and the back door was open) and some of the locals were tempted to come up and join us.   But they saw the sign on the door :-  FULL HOUSE - and decided we were full up, so didnt come in.    Something to think about boys!

If you havent heard FULL HOUSE and come across one of their gigs, do make the effort to hear them, you will not be disappointed.
