We all know how the publishing industry works.
The author toils away — the completed typescript is then read by an editor.
I am a private proofreader and offer this efficient and friendly service at affordable rates.
For Proofreading and Editorial Work
I charge per 1000 words.
This allows you to know how much you will be charged.
It is not easy to give an average number of words per hour that can be used to estimate how long proofreading will take. However, a basic rule of thumb for a straightforward, mostly text publication is to allow for a proofreading rate of about 7-8 pages per hour with about 250 -300 words per page.
You also benefit if the work takes longer than anticipated.
Proofreading
£7.00 per 1000 words
Copy Editing
£12 per 1000 words for light copy editing
£15 per 1000 words for medium copy editing
£20 per 1000 words for advanced copy editing.
Work less than 1000 words in length, will be charged at the rate for 1000 words. This applies to both proofreading and copy editing.
Additional Options: Manuscripts can be forwarded by email in Word or PDF format and I will print out the work in order to proofread it and then apply the changes on the final digital document to be returned to you. There is a charge for printing of £ 0.10 per page.
You can send the MS in printed form to my address with a paid return envelope for the completed corrections.
