On this day 7th June 2014 - Rifleman William Ayres

Today 7th June we remember Rifleman William Ayres (R/7563) who served with the King's Royal Rifle Corps. William was husband to Kate and father of six. He was the grandfather of Elizabeth Ayres who has stitched a square in his memory. You can see Elizabth's square in the Gallery. Elizabeth told me that unfortunately she does not have any photographs of William at any stage of his life. He died on 7th June 1916 and is buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen.
