FAKE NEWS
Fake News has been mentioned a lot on the media lately and in particular by the USA President, Donald Trump, who has directed his comments at some top American newspapers.
Here in the UK social media has been blamed for some fake news and, in particular, some postings FACEBOOK.
To highlight examples of FACEBOOK postings, a dedicated website has been produced entitled: THE F WORD and is listed on the menu.
FALSE ADVERTS
These crop up from time to time and can often be deceitful like the one below, which appeared on websites hosted by an established web-builder company in the UK who put adverts on websites in lieu of free hosting:
Clicking on the above advert resulted in the viewer being directed to a totally unrelated website. (NOTE... In this example there is no active link in order not to promote the advertiser.)
It is an example of a deceitful way of getting someone to look at a website, which in this case referred to financial services.
Deceitful adverts are totally unacceptable and can degrade a website and reflect badly on the hosting service who, incidentally, claim they have little or no control over GOOGLE adverts.
Here is an extract from Wikipedia relating to adverts like the one above:
False advertising is often a crime. In some countries advertising practices are regulated by a government authority, in others the advertising industry is self-regulated and professional associations combat false advertising. False advertising is a type of fraud. Wikipedia
