Helpful summary points to form a letter of objection, as follows:-
- The Planning Application Reference at the top (Ref 14/00551/APP)
- Reference to the title or name of the proposal application in the title of your letter
- Addressed to the Planning Officer (Mr MacPherson)
- The word object or objection must be stated clearly at the beginning (such as – I wish to object to the above application on the following points:)
- The objections should be set out clearly as individual points, emphasizing that each point is to be taken into account as an individual objection point. Avoid ranting or listing everything in one paragraph.
- The objection points should be factual and they can relate to general issues or issues that affect you personally
- If possible the objection should relate to a failing or error in the Planning Application process, a breach in Policy (Local or National), Environmental Issues or Human Rights etc stating what the breach/error/failing is, if possible (Such as the proposal is in breach of the Scottish Policy, Designing Streets, due to the dominance of the motor vehicle through a residential area)
- If your house is on the route then you should state that you object to the effects that the road construction and end road use may have on your property, in terms of vibration. State that you would like a Schedule of Condition before and after construction and that a copy of the report should be made available.
- If you submit your objection and decide you wish to submit further objections, you can. Just state that your letter is in addition to the initial letter, dated ….. and that you wish the additional objection points to be dealt with in conjunction with your initial letter.
