The Club Committee - 2017
Mike Williams, Club Chairman. Mike has been involved with the club since the late 1960's as a player and served in various offices. He is the club's representative on the committee of the Blackburn with Darwen Junior Bowls Initiative. He has attended all the relevant courses for dealing with children and young people, including DBS clearance, and is the Junior Bowls Coordinator for Edgworth Primary School's bowling activities at the club including Level 2 Coaching Standard.
Eileen Hogarth, General Secretary. Eileen has been a willing and straightforward member ever since joining the club and had no hesitation in fullfilling this most important role when it became vacant. Although new to the post she got on with the important business immediately and will prove to be an excellent club secretary.
Ian Harvey, Club Treasurer. Ian is again continuing as Treasurer doing an excellent job of keeping the accounts and keeping the committee regularly informed with his detailed financial reports. Ian also does a fine job of organising the club's domestic competitions and social activities on the green.
Peter Russell, Clubmark Liaison Officer. Peter maintains the Clubmark procedures in and for the Club which gives us the opportunity to review the current policies for creating a focused and structured plan for the development of our junior and beginner sections. He is DBS cleared and as a Junior Bowls Volunteer has qualified to the Level 2 Coaching Standard.
Maureen Hall, Club Child Protection Officer. Maureen has been a member of the club for many years and has played an active role on various Bowling Club Committee's. The role of the child protection officer is vital in safeguarding children’s wellbeing and carries a great deal of responsibility with it. Maureen is also DBS cleared as is Sylvia Innes who covers as Child Protection Officer if Maureen is unavailable.
Harry Riley, Fixture Secretary. Harry is continuing with the task of Fixtures Secretary and will continue producing the Club Fixture Booklet and updating the website with the match results on the website. Harry is also DBS cleared as a Junior Bowling Volunteer.
Joan Turner, Club Development Officer. Joan has recently taken on this important role at the club since the passing of Nick Pearson who held this office for many years. Joan has already put forward some very good ideas to progress the club, especially in relation to the club's youth policy.
Colin Makinson, Club Safety Officer. After many years in various offices, Colin has now taken on this increasingly important role. He is DBS cleared and continues as one of the Junior Bowls Volunteers.
Joyce Makinson, Club Health and Catering Manager. Joyce has been an invaluable member as long as husband Colin. She has also served the club well in various offices and with DBS clearance is a Junior Bowls Volunteer. Along with Maureen she has the very important task of looking after the welfare of the Club's "dietary needs" in supreme fashion to everyones satisfaction.
Stewart Beswick, Green Maintenance Officer. After several years being around the green, always willing to assist in the maintenance of the Club, Stewart has now taken over the official reins for maintaining the playing surface of the green, which has become the envy of many visiting Clubs.
Barbara Butterworth, Minutes Secretary. Although fairly new to the Club, Barbara had no hestation in volunteering for this important office to record the minutes of the Committee meetings accurately and succinctly.
Andrew Warman, Webmaster. Andrew has taken on the important work of maintaining and updating the Club's Website with news of competitions and general communications.
