In April John Richards spoke on The Ruins of Neath Abbey - the monastic, the Tudor mansion, and industrial revolution remains.
In May the Rev Dr Canon Brian Lodwick spoke on the Rev Henry Hey Knight, a former Rector of Neath, who produced a scholarly account of the medieval tiles found during the excavation of Neath Abbey.
Barry Evans's talk on Madame Adelina Patti on 20th June was well received. We learned how the 'Queen of Song' came to live at Craig-Y-Nos Castle. This was a fascinating account of a colourful, immensely rich and talented individual who became a part of the local scene and has left her legacy in the area.
