I Am Omnipotent
21 April 2010

I am omnipotent. I am eternal. I am powerful both physically and magically. My people look to me for protection. My people come to me with their woes and their wonders. My people believe in and love me. They speak of my beauty in odes that would make humans weep to hear them. They sing to me in songs that resonate among the flowers and trees. I am the supreme ruler of the Winged Fey. And, though I am small, I am fierce.
Our neighboring kingdom of the Goblins fear us, though they won’t admit it.  They will eat us and their strength is unearthly, but they don't hold sway with magic. It is beyond them and above them. I tell my people that is why we have wings. The Goblins may be taller, but we were created winged so that we may look down upon them. We are superior.
The shape shifters fear us. Suppose on the hunt, we led them through the drinking thorns or quicksand? They may have more that one form, but we were blessed with the knowledge of the glens. We are superior.
The kingdom of the Death Maidens is frightening to all. Darkened and cobwebbed with the secrets of the underworld. But we were created from life and joy. The Death Maidens don’t understand those things and they shudder from the sun as we frolic in the flower fields. We are superior.
Then there is the kingdom of the Sidhe. They are the largest and most in tune with the magic of the Goddess and God and therefore are rulers above us all. They are beautiful and born with magic my small queenly body could never hold. So even though to my own people, I am closest to the Goddess, the Queen of the Sidhe must be so to me.
So when she calls her kingdoms, the Winged Fey, the Goblins, the Shape shifters and Death Maidens to come before her, what do I do? Do I stand with my crown and head held high as befitting the queen I was raised to be? Or do I bow along with the others and keep my people thriving. Omnipotence is relative, my young prince and princesses. You bow and keep your people alive.
