A great week of sunny rides on lovely smooth tarmac! As temperatures reached the mid 30’s Celsius some memorable cycles were had including the famous Vuelta a Éspaña climb to Los Lagos de Covadonga. Favourites though were the climbs to Baleño. First going on to Viego and descending to San Ignacio and another day returning via Caso and Soto de Dueñas. Both of these rides in the Ponga national park were made all the better by the rich Asturian wildlife, from soaring birds of prey to the colourful butterflies. The best cake date though was the biscocho de manzana in Cabrales at the end of the epic Sotres day.

The hot days demanded lots of cooling river swims, what could be nicer than a dip in the Dobra before a cold beer and dinner at Pedro’s.
