MP Ian Blackford calls for halt to ship-to-ship oil transfers in the Cromarty Firth
SNP MP Ian Blackford has tabled a question in the Commons asking Transport Minister David Goodwill to suspend ship-to-ship (STS) oil transfers in the Cromarty Firth until he has consulted Marine Scotland, representing the Scottish Government.
The move came after Blackford accused the UK Government last week of being “economical with the truth” when Goodwill said the directorate, which is responsible for the management of Scotland’s seas, had been consulted aboutover the transfers and had not responded.
Blackford said he was surprised and, when he checked with the Scottish Government, and he discovered that it was “not aware of being directly approached” by Whitehall.
