Cromarty Firth oil transfer proposal leaves councillor 'staggered'

From the Ross-shire journal: Quoting Black Isle Councillor, Craig Fraser:

"“I am staggered that the port authority has tried to slip this in under the radar by making the application during the festive season when everyone’s minds are on different things,” he said.

“I think it has been very sleekit and that this application poses a very real risk to a piece of remarkable coastline.

“The port authority says this type of operation has already been taking place, but what has taken place are transfers from one ship to another while tied up alongside.

“It is a very different operation with two ships anchored a mile offshore.

“If an accident happened and the wind was blowing from the east, oil would be deposited all over the Cromarty Firth, including the Udale Bay bird sanctuary.""
