Arundel Clay was born on 2 February 1891, the second of two sons, the eleventh child of the Rev John Harden Clay and Alice Spencer née Bagnold. He was educated at Repton, and became a Civil Engineer.
Arundel worked for Canadian Pacific Railway, then in the Colonial Service (1913‑14). During the First War he joined the Royal Engineers and worked in the War Office. After the War he worked for British Petroleum (B.P.). He was married on 28 November 1927 in the ProCathedral in Cairo to Margaret Buist.
(Arthur John) Mackenzie was born on 14 September 1928.
Marjorie (Joan), always called "Daw", was born on 10 March 1931 in Baghdad, and was married on 30 August 1958 in Holy Trinity, Brathay to Alan Miekle, who was born on 22 March 1928, became County Architect for Hereford & Worcs and lived at Wick Grange, Pershore, Worcs. They had issue. She died on 5 October 1981 in Malvern at the age of 50
Arundel was very interested in family history, and much of the information in this record came from him. In 1952, he produced by hand a family tree which was eight inches high but fourteen feet wide. He and Gervas Clay corresponded regularly towards the end of his life, and his letters are being collated.
He died on 22 March 1982 in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, at the age of 91.
Margaret (Lewis) née Buist.
Margaret was born on 20 July 1900 in Dundee. She was a doctor at St Andrew's University.
Her death was registered in Pershore, Worcs, in 1985.
