Training Videos

Our intention is to provide a number of Training Videos to assist you with some of the problems you might encounter.  Videos are much easier to follow than tutorials provided you have a reasonably fast download speed.  We're very interested to receive feedback on two counts

  • how do you rate the video.  When the video is finished click the "Close" button at the top of the screen and on the screen that opens you will see there is a place if you scroll down to leave comments and to rate the video from 1 to 5 stars.  Go ahead and comment - we won't be offended.
  • what other videos would you like to see?  What subjects would you like covered? - let us know or we can't help.

Resizing for Competitions - this is always something that confuses new members so have a look at this.  The method shown on this video works perfectly well but is a few clicks more complicated than the tutorial shown here.  This video will be updated in due course.

Saving & Naming - this video assumes your image is correctly sized and then explains how to both re-name it from the number allotted by the camera to something more meaningful and then how to save it to a size suitable for competitions and emailing.

Preparing an A4 Mount - this video shows you what is required if you are going to mount an image for a Print competition.  Use this method and your mounts will be re-usable for future competitions.  The video doesn't spell out where to go for your cut mounts but Studio Khyber in Watton (see the ad in the right hand column) or Mark Bunning Photography (see ad on main site) will make you one complete with backing card for around £2.50 to £3.00

Printing - if printing is always a disappointment with what you see on the screen not being what you see on the final print out then this video is a must.  To some degree the printed paper version will never be quite the same as what you see on a backlit screen but it should come pretty close and this video should help you achieve that end result.

Emailing your Image - emailing can be a problem for some members as you have to avoid the email downsizing your image.  Here we explain how to use the facility within Elements that will do the process for you.

Digital Workflow
You have an image that you think might have some potential.  Here is a simple workflow that will take you from your original snapshot image to something a lot more presentable - even a competition winner maybe!!

Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO
All you need to know is right here in this You-Tube video.  This builds on a training programme held by us in March 2012.  While watching try counting the number of times this American Presenter smiles.
