The Village: Montejaque is one of Andalucias Pueblos Blancos (White villages). Sheltered by the mountains, in our opinion one of the most beautiful villages in the region, it is quite a small village – approx. 1000 inhabitants however it has a good selection of shops for your provisions, bakery, pharmacy, hardware etc, several tapas bars and 3 restaurants. The local people are very welcoming and friendly, as you approach them on the street say ‘Hola’ or ‘Buenos dias’ and you will be rewarded with a smile and a response.
Nature: Throughout the year Montejaque is an ideal location for bird-watching; Griffon Vultures soar overhead daily, and several raptors species nest and breed here. The spring & autumn migration gives sightings of many birds not normally resident in the area. For botanists spring and early summer is an absolute joy with many wild flower species including several orchids.
Activities: For visitors seeking an active holiday the area provides opportunities for walking, bird watching, cycling, rock-climbing, trekking and other outdoor pursuits. On our doorstep is the unique Grazalema Natural Park. However if you are wanting to just 'chill out' the Casita is located in a tranquil area of the village, ideal to relax and charge your batteries.
Sightseeing: Casita de las Estrellas is also an ideal base for sightseeing from which to access the jewels of Andalucía; within easy reach is the historic Moorish stronghold of Ronda with its famous El Tajo gorge and bullring.
The cities of Cordoba, Seville, Jerez, Granada and Gibraltar; the undiscovered Costa de la Luz, with its beautiful beaches and interesting towns of Tarifa and Cadiz, are all accessible as day trips. The cosmopolitan resort of Marbella and the Costa del Sol are about an hour away.
We recommend that you hire a car to see the best that this beautiful area as to offer.

Swimming: For guests who like to swim there are several options in the immediate area. During Andalucian school holidays from mid-June, July and August there are excellent municipal pools in Montejaque, Benaoján and Grazalema. These pools offer tremendous value for money. All the municipal pools have first class facilities and a bar for drinks and snacks.
The Grazalema pool has unparalleled views from its cliff top position. The pool at Benaoján also has a restaurant which offers a very good menú del día. There is also a smaller, shallower pool for very little people. There are sun loungers and parasols.
If you are feeling brave and in need of adventure, then the fish pool at the Cueva del Gato (Picture above) is an exhilarating dip in the cool waters fresh from the heart of the mountains... Deep breath, tummy in and GO FOR IT!
