The Royal Commission for Ancient and Historical Monuments Scotland were the recent guests of the Canna Local History Group. It has been 14 years since they were last working on Canna and this visit involves a laser scan of the ruins of Coroghon Castle. The Local History Group met in the Gille Brighde restaurant and Ian Parker from RCAHMS gave an excellent presentation on the work that they do. The group then left to visit Canna House where Georgina Brown from RCAHMS had set up the HDS Scanstation 2 laser scanner. An excellent demonstration of the scanner at work was given as it scanned the front elevation of Canna House. The group returned to the restaurant to view the results and were amazed by the quality and detail.
