CANDY (Calston Morning Request for Canjoline)

We live in Washington Tyne & Wear with our 3 beardies. We have been owned by beardies since 2000. It was then that we bought our first beardie, Candy (Calston Morning Request for Canjoline) a black beardie who we got when she was 12 weeks old. (born 24.10.00)

We had been looking for a beardie for years and at the time didn't think to look on the internet for breeders. Eventually I found the bearded collie site and contacted the puppy list to see if there were any puppies, I was told that a couple in Preston had some puppies. After a couple of phone calls to Gwen I arranged to go that afternoon to see the pups.

When my husband came in I told him I had filled the car with petrol..... he asked if I had checked the oil and water and I told him he should do that before we set off he asked where we were going I said (in a quiet voice) "Preston" He said "Preston near Blackpool Preston?" "okay "he said "off we go". We set off at 4:00pm from Washington Tyne & Wear and arrived at 9:00pm in Preston where we were warmly greeted by Gwen and Alex Prescott. After sitting talking and having coffee Alex brought out Candy and a younger puppy for us to look at Candy just looked into my husbands eyes and that was it, love at first sight he wasn't leaving without her. After several more cups of coffee and lots of information, puppy packs etc. we left Gwen and Alex at 11:30pm it was a long journey back but Candy was really good and slept most of the way.

I started showing Candy when she was 6 months old but after a year of showing Candy decided she had had enough, she's quite a dainty shy beardie and doesn't appear to like the attention at shows although she's not like that at home.

Thanks must go to Alex and the late Gwen Prescott for the friendly way we were greeted and the information that they gave us. Gwen was such a warm friendly person and always took an interest when we saw her at shows. Both Gwen and Alex were always on the other end of the phone if I needed them.
