Cameronians.

Cameronian heroes, a page for all to post a picture. Just email a picture to cameronianfriends@googlemail.com to post on this page. It can be anyone from family, a neighbour or your hero you have read about from childhood.

Saturday 29th September 2018 was a day to remember for one of our legends Dick Gilmour.

Who is Dick Gilmour and why him?
Dick has lived in Dennistoun for over 40 years and still serves his community by working as a school crossing patrol man.
Dick is a former colour sargeant with the Cameronians.
He is a jungle fighter who fought in Malaya in 1951.
A vicious,bloody war.
He's a really proud soldier and still regularly attends his comrades meetings and he also proudly marched past the cenotaph in London last remembrance day.
We did look at inviting various VIP's to perform the unveiling.
We did get really positive feedback from one or two.
In the end the decision was taken to ask a real local hero.
Someone we may all walk past every day without giving him a thought or sideward glance.
Someone who has seen and done things that 99.9% never will.
Dick Gilmour, I salute you.
A real local hero.
