Organic supplies seem to be keeping up with demand, which is encouraging at this time. However a rise in the base price still remains a long way off, as consumer demand at this time is at a seasonal low. Some factories, believe it or not, are reporting a seven week waiting time from booking to slaughter. However with the festive period approaching fast we hope to that the traditional lift in prices is not that far away? Organic stores, be they cattle or lambs are finding a ready market with more buyers than sellers just now.

With this market outlook we advise any lambs be put to long keep if you can, and to forward book any lambs that are due to be fat between now and Christmas.  If throughput becomes tight as we expect, some forward planning is needed so we can help you procure the right spec at the best time.

Cattle will be similar, so call the Farm Stock office to let them know what you will have ready to sell so they can find the right market now.  If Farm Stock don't have enough lead-in time to book your stock, you run the risk of not getting a kill slot and animals going over fat.
