Organic beef continues to be our market leader in terms of price, with R4L Steers & Heifers trading at the truly remarkable price of at least 520p kg. With supplies short and likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future we can only hope that this trade will continue. Organic lambs are few and far between just now, but what are available are making around 530p kg. Organic hogget’s will still be wanted for a while yet, as long as they have flesh on them and still have their lamb teeth.

We had a very interesting day at the SOPA AGM and farm visit at Messrs Lochhead’s farm at Beyond the Burn near Dumfries. It was pleasing to meet Organic producers from the different areas of the country who we only ever speak to by telephone and was good to put faces to names.
