The Romans lucked into the final of the WPA Cup for the 4th successive year after the team they lost to in the semi-finals (Monkstone Inn  2) dropped out at the 11th hour.  Determined to make the most of it, Tansy & Paul Mayfield and Kon Tomczyck & Shun Price battled away, winning their semi final against Monkstone/Penylan.  They took on Monkstone Inn 1 in the final, playing some really good and aggressive boules – but ultimately losing out: runners up for the second year in a row, and for the 3rd time in 4 attempts – ah well.... next year, next year...

In the meantime Caerleon Celts made it to the Final of the Plate for the first time: the squad included Pat Daviss, Ray Williams, Wally, and Dai.  They played Wenvoe 2 in the semi final – and despite some fierce battling they lost out – but achieved a creditable joint 3rd place.
