The BiG League Champion of Champions competition was played at the Rising Sun, on a bright and not-too-cold October Sunday.  Caerleon A’s were the RFCs sole representatives at this year’s competition, but with hangovers and injuries galore we were up against it form the start.  Paul Gregory and Katie Gregory did well in the first round, beating the Little Crown side soundly, but Tansy Mayfield & Jeremy Vaughan– despite playing well, lost on 2 bad ends.  The next round was just as difficult – we lost 2-0 to the Wheatsheaf – I put that down to Richard Harris being scared of the tiny ponies in the adjoining field – with his knees knocking and his teeth chattering we had NEIGH chance of winning.  We redeemed ourselves in the next round with a couple of wins, with Alison Gregory proving herself as a shooter, but it was all over bar the shouting in the last round, and we ran out in joint 3rd place.  Well done to the Wheatsheaf for winning, but the surprise team of the day were the Little Crown who gave several teams a wake up call.  Well done also to Harris for winning Hello Kitty Top Trumps - what an absolute BLOUSE.
