Three women from the RFC played in then Ladies Triples: Barbara Vaughan & Pat Daviss played with Karen McLeod of Wenvoe, whilst Tansy Mayfield played with Gemma Foster & Julie Bailey (Wheatsheaf & Monkstone respectively). The format was a double round robin, with each team playing the others twice.

Barbara, Pat & Karen played well for much of the day and scored good points, but could not clinch the wins, ending up in 3rd place. Tansy’s team fared better, building on their success in the WPA Grand Prix, dropping one game in the morning but winning the others.

The last game of the day for them was against Gay Murphy, Jill Brace & Joanie Roberts who had beaten them 13-7 in the first meeting (revenge for their loss in the Triples the week before?!). Tansy, Julie & Gemma – mindful of the need for a win – pulled it together to win 13-5, securing 1st place with equal wins but superior points difference: they now qualify to attend the Ladies Europeans in Ghent later this year.
