The RFC shone in the National Mixed Doubles held at Brecon RFC on Sunday May 27th in glorious sunshine (do you remember sunshine?).Five from the RFC entered - Tansy Mayfield (playing with Jesse Lipitz-Robic or Penarth), Barbara Vaughan and Kon Tomczyk, and Paul Mayfield and Pat Daviss, and all made it at least as far as the semis of the Main.

12 pairs entered and the format for the monring was 3 pools of 4 teams with the top 8 pairs qualifying for the main and the remaining 4 entered into the plate competition.  Barb & Kon, and Pat & Paul both won 2 games, whilst tansy and Jesse won all 3 int he morning session placing them all in the Main.

The afternoon play was a straight knockout affair and saw some hotly contested matches. The first group saw Kon & Barbara  win against Jake Caston and Gemma Foster from The Wheatsheaf PC, Llanhennock, 13-10. They then went on to win against Paul & Pat , 13-11 in the semi final.

The second group saw Tansy & Jesse go through to the semi final, having beaten Jill and Steve Brace of Wheatsheaf PC 13 – 7. They then went on to win against a Harry and Margaret Drake of Craigeau PC 13-4 to go through to the final and play against Kon and Barbara.

The final saw some excellent shooting and pointing throughout the game; however Tansy and Jessie who had not lost a game all day took the 2012 mixed pairs title with a 13- 4 win.
