C-Card Scheme

BTM Youth Club volunteers recently gave up their free time to attend an intense training session delivered by the Anuerin Bevan Health Trust in order to be part of the County borough wide initiative to deliver the c-card scheme.

Our club will now become a  link with other projects in the area including surgeries, pharmacies, colleges, schools, youth clubs etc. to offer young people aged 14-25 the opportunity to talk about safer sexual health and awareness and where necessary offer signposting to other services and organisations as well as being able to offer free condoms, dams and lube. The aim of the scheme is to break down social and financial barriers and allow young people access to the correct information on sexual health issues allowing them to make informed choices.

Bearing in mind the statistics for teenage pregnancy and STI's especially Chlamydia in young girls within our area (although deliverance of this scheme over a number of years have proven to have contributed to a drop in these), we feel that this is an important service that needs to be accessible to young people. The c-card is a confidential scheme which will work in line with our Child Protection Policy  and all discussions held with our staff will be private.

Our deliverance of the c-card scheme will be monitored and supported by the Anuerin Bevan Health Board along with additional support from the Caerphilly HIP (Health Inclusion Team) team.

Should any parent or young person like to know more about the scheme then please feel free to contact the club either using the contact form on this website or by calling into the club anytime from 7.30-8.30 on a Friday night and asking to speak to the Senior Youth Worker for that night. More information on the scheme can also be found on the CCBC website
