Community Speed Watch
Are you concerned about speeding in the village?
The Parish Council is interested in setting up a community speed watch in Brixworth with the help from Northamptonshire Police, however in order to do this firstly we need at least 10 volunteers (more would be preferable) willing to be trained in using the hand held speed gun and to be part of the speed watch team. In addition we would need 500 signatures from the community supporting this scheme.
If you are interested then please come along to a presentation by
Police Officer John McQuaid on Tuesday 12 February 2013 at 7.00pm
in the Library/Community Centre Hall in Spratton Road.
Community Speed Watch enables local people to become actively involved in helping to slow down traffic in 30mph zones within their community.
Members of the community are trained in the use of hand-held speed monitoring devices to track the speed of motorists in their parish. The Police Force will then send out warning letters to the drivers. Each community involved in the programme will receive support from their local Safer Community Team as well as a vehicle activated speed sign to highlight to motorists how fast they are travelling.
