Bohs Start Season With A Win

After a frustrating cancellation last weekend, it was great to see the ground playable and get the 2012 season underway.

In a rare upturn of events Bohs skipper O'Farrell won the toss and elected to bowl.

This decision was quickly vindicated as McCarthy and Spurrell picked up where they left off from 2011 and reduced Taveners to 6-5, and then 24-6, McCarthy taking 2 and Spurrell 4 of those wickets.

A solid stand of 71 between skipper Nick Chapman, who was obdurate in his defence, and Phil Jackson, the aggressor saw Tavs upto respectability, with Jackson ending up on a well made 67 as Taveners were bowled out off the penultimate ball of the innings for 123. Ben Mc ended up with 3-9 off 11 excellent overs, Trigger with 4-24 off his 12.

After an excellent tea Bohemians started brightly in their response as Aaron Powell and Joner took the score upto 20 before Aaron didn't quite get his pull away and was C+B.

Joner quickly followed bowled through the gate and Bohs were wobbling at 23-2.

In stepped Casper (31) and Skipper (55*) with a solid stand of 50 to ease the nerves on an ever improving wicket, finished off with much aplomb by debutant Max Longden, who scored 16* to see the boys home.

An excellent win for many reasons, well done to the boys, good luck to Taveners for the rest of the season.
