Margot Henderson

margot hendersonMargot Henderson is a poet, storyteller and community artist of Scots Irish origin. She has generated arts and education projects for more than 25 years, supporting diverse groups and organisations in their creative process. Since returning to Scotland in 2002 she has been joint Storytelling Fellow for Aberdeen, and an active contributor to projects and community celebrations at the Findhorn Foundation near her home in Morayshire.

Invited by the Cromarty Arts Trust in 2007 to mark the anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade throughout the British Empire, she spent four months living and working part-time in Cromarty – addressing the theme of Freedom with local groups including schoolchildren, young people and senior citizens.

At the Black Isle Words Festival Margot will be holding a creative writing workshop exploring the visceral in the mythical. This session will offer some playful yet powerful ways of breathing new life into old stories, of  tracing the veins in traditional tales, of looking more closely at the stories.
