Dr Morgan Dalphinis, author of 'Caribbean and African Languages' is speaking about his new book on St Lucien Language and Culture.
Morgan Dalphinis' clear and readable account of the island's linguistic history features highlights significant points of interconnection in the web of language, culture and identity as the peoples of the island confronted successive waves of change and shaped their destinies.
Consequently, St Lucian History & Language not only acknowledges influences pre 1654, but in light of identified developments between that date and 1915, and this book asks us some provocative questions about the direction of travel for both the language and people beyond the early decades of the twenty-first century.
We have also invited Jamaican poet, Yasus Afari, to be part of the ongoing panel and he will launch the ‘Windrush Words’ project.
Jean Samuel L Mfikelon, is a exceptional artiste and he will be presenting recent examples of his work.
