Staff and pupils from the early years department have been active the whole of this past year and they thanked us with a truly wonderful Christmas card made from natural materials and with splendid presents.
Wildflower and Hay Meadows have been planted by the children and the fantastic Hay has been fed to the animals at Biological Services York site. The children were delighted with this as they receive regular visits in school from the Ducks, Chickens and Rabbits. Gimli the dog comes too.
A huge crop of vegetables and friut have been gathered from the early years garden, these were then cooked and eaten by the children in class. A really fantastic way to appreciate how nature works and what real food tastes like.
Composting and the construction of garden and habitat features has been the main feature of this autumn. These will be used to grow the vegetables and flowers that the children will be growing starting in January 2007.
