This last Sunday wasn’t as well attended by visitors / listeners as the month previous but the numbers were still on the healthy side. On the positive side there were a number of folks lining up to play and everyone seemed to be pleased with the results. Membership is on the increase and we have a number of new bands and singer song writers expressing an interest booking a slot. Remember the featured slot is 45minutes and a guest slot is 4 numbers. To book a slot phone one of the numbers at the end of this review.
Before I go any further I feel we should thank Kevin Codonna for supporting Atomic by giving us a venue to let musicians and more importantly, friends, come together and hopefully have a bit of fun playing and listening to different types of music in comfortable surroundings.
Cadillac
Our day started off with Cadillac performing a Chris Le Daux number -“Tougher than the rest”. The set was a real mixed bag with numbers by Dwight Yoakam - Lonestar and the like. Cadillac have been rehearsing with a female singer, who is a lot easier on the eye that Dave P, mind you that’s not saying much. Arlene joined the boys on stage for a number, and she will be joining them at the fun day on the 4th Sept.  Good luck Arlene hope you enjoy yourself with the Cadillac crew.
Dave Bremner and friends
In between meeting and greeting and sorting out the administration, I was pleased to take to the stage, always nervous but always pleased to air my own songs. Thanks to Dave p – Gerry – Graham and Darren for joining me. For a change I did a couple of covers – James Taylors’ going to California and Bob Dylans – Knocking on Heaven’s Door (with a little bit of a gnr feel to it). There after Dave p introduced me as “a bit of a song writer” and with an introduction like that i had to sing 3 of my own songs, all unrehearsed with the guys but I felt like a million dollars being able to perform my song with real musicians, thanks guys.

Lloyd – Dad and Graham
Dad is Darren the bass player (as some of you will know) his son Lloyd has started to play the drums, and the 3 of them played a couple of numbers and the way Lloyd was smiling at the end told us all he loved the experience. Lloyd did so well, I am sure he was nervous but you wouldn’t have known it, mind you his backing band was something else. Lloyd we would like to thank you for using Atomic to show off your skills, keep working hard and the world will be your lobster. How young are you!!! You make us older guys feel --- well old. Haste yea back.
Linda (Bunty) and Graham
I had only every seen and heard Bunty and Graham play together once before and it was obvious then that there is a real chemistry between the two, however hearing Graham on the acoustic guitar backing Linda’s rich melodic voice in a couple of different arrangements of well know songs was a real treat for this music lover. David Bowies – “The man who sold the world” was something that I would go out and buy if they ever recorded it, a beautiful version. In fact please record it even at home and send me a copy, I would like that on my I tunes listing. What are you going to come up with for the next time you play at Atomic? You have set the bar so high I can’t wait to see what you come up with..
Q-nim
A chance meeting with Palo who was visiting Atmosphere lighting for some equipment, led to this featured band booking. Lead guitar – drums – bass – violin – harp and vocals, what had we booked??
Q-nim play all their own songs/arrangements with a Celtic-rock feel, and they didn’t fail to impress. From the first solo run on the heavy effects sound of the lead guitar through to the fiddles haunting echoes and the often aggressive vocals  backed by a solid rhythm section, Q-nim are a local band to watch out for.  To be honest I was enjoying their set so much I didn’t write down the details I normally do, so guys I am sorry for the lack of detail, the next time you play I will get a full run down of your set before you play. It is obvious however you are a bunch of talented friends that love playing music together and the closeness shines through. Thank you for taking time to play at Atomic, and remember to are booked to play at the Christmas event...... Interesting to hear what you will come up with ...
Perhaps we could hear more of the harp – a real innovation and a real delight

Thank you all who attended and keep checking the web site for what is happening in September. Dave P and I have started work on the Christmas event, let’s have a stonking good time – “let it snow let it snow let it snow” now there’s a song there some where !!
