REVIEW OF THE 25TH
25 July 2010

·         The ATOMIC club goes from strength to strength – after a slow start and even an aborted event (due to world cup football crowd in lounge) yesterday’s event was a real success – long may it continue.·         A good number of musicians willing to take to the stage as well a healthy group of interested listeners came along to support the club and of course their favourites on stage. If everyone that plays at one of our events manages to introduce ATOMIC to another band or solo artist then the club with continue to grow at pace. Non participating listeners are also encouraged as it is always nicer to play to a crowd instead of a row of empty seats. Please try to stay for the 3 hours so the atmosphere is of a good standard for all taking part.

CADILLAC - despite the fact that a couple of the regulars were missing in action a version of this country-rock band took to the stage for a few numbers. The highlight to many in the lounge was Cadillacs’ version of Squeeze Box, suitably countryised, of course. Even with some technical difficulties with a mic, Cadillac (or any versions of led by Dave P.) continues to offer up a quality country –rock set. Keep up the good work guys.

BLADE – a young Indi based band joined us for the first time and performed our standard guest slot of 4 songs, three of which were ones they had written themselves. A band with good potential and with the right guidance they could do well. By the reaction of their “supporters” they have a good following already and with more exposure this can only grow. Hopefully Blade will return to one of the following Sundays and fill a further guest slot - of 4 more songs, let us all hear what you have to offer.

FEATURED ARTISTS

DAVE BREMNER - singer/songwriter, treated us to 8 original songs mostly ballad type, all of which seemed to be well received by fellow musicians and listeners alike. Dave loves writing and performing but was extremely nervous about doing his set on his own so he was delighted to be joined on stage for his last two numbers by Dave Plenderleith and Graham Barclay who added a great deal to these country songs. Dave has been pulling together finances so he can get into the recording studio to lay down 12 original and 4 cover versions of songs for his first album. Anyone willing to give a little of their time and their obvious talent to help Dave complete a dream and record his songs, please contact ATOMIC and we will arrange a discussion with Dave.

OUT OF ORDER – an eventful and promising ATOMIC afternoon finished on a real high when Aberddens’ leading rock/blues band took to the stage as the days second featured artist, and the wait for these guys was well worth it. Gritty – professional – artistic – classy rock blues of the highest level. Out of Order haven’t been playing too much recently due to the personnel having commitments elsewhere, on this evidence we need to sort out the other stuff on their behalf so they can concentrate on getting their music out there more often. Strong twin guitar playing, and vocals fully supported by a excellent bass and drum engine. We at ATOMIC will be asking these blues king back in the not too distant future.
excellent stuff - Rory Gallagher would have been proud of that set!!!!!!
