The Strathpeffer Archaeology Trail app is now available for download on Androids, iPods, iPhones and iPads.  Designed, researched and produced by Ross and Cromarty Archaeological Services, this is the first ever archaeological trail app designed for smartphones.

The app is a fantastic resource, with layers of video and imagery about the archaeology of the North of Scotland, centred around six sites in and around the village of Strathpeffer, Ross-shire.  The user can experience each site and learn about it from their own tour guide whilst virtually visiting some of the more inaccessible areas.  It can be used both by people who physically visit the sites or users from anywhere in the world.  It is the first time that the latest in smartphone technology has been used to build an archaeology trail, chosen in place of erecting interpretation panels on the sites.
