Bank Street Athletic    1    v     AHSFP   2

The FPs travelled to Dundee to face premier opposition in the "all in " cup. Having never beaten Bank Street, the FPs welcomed back Dall and Lees, with Brown in goals to cover for the unavailable Saunderson. The FPs started strongly and were more than  match for the home team, and after some fine play up the right wing, a M.Gall through ball to SMITH, who took the pass on the volley and fired the ball home to make it 1-0 to the FPs. The FPs maintained the pressure on the Dundee team, and with Dall and Lees, winning the midfield battle, the FPs went further ahead when Smith tiurned provider to Matty Gall, whose shot came in off the back post to make it 2-0. The anticipated onslaught from  the home team didn't materialise and the FPs finished the half more than a match for their opponents.

half-time - Bank Street Athletic   0   v   AHSFP 2

Bank Street started the second half on the front foot, ad the FPs found themselves hemmed in on their own half. The FPs seemed to weather a succession of corners but the defence was eventually breached when a shot from the edge of the box hit the back of the net to give the home team the momentum, to make 2-1 to the FPs. Brown showed good handling as he came out and caught and punched clear a succession of corners as Bank Street pushed for an equaliser. There was still  thirty minutes remaining as Bank street piled on the pressure, and Lees was then two footed in a challenge and the referee had no option but to send the home player off. Bank Street grew stronger and FPS replaced Michael Gall with Kidd, as the forward and run himself into the ground. Kidd was quickly involved and as the home team pressed for an equaliser a disputed decision saw the referee dish out another red card to Bank Street for foul and abusive language. Despite their numerical advantage, the FPs were unable to sustain any pressure on Bank Street, but they had a fine chance on the counter attcak as Kidd raced clear and beat the last defender , he had the option to square to Ferrier but he tried to clip the ball past the Bank Street custodian, and narrowly missed the goal. Bank Street went all out for an equaliser, and youngster Bucik replaced a tiringFerrer. Buick picked up a lose ball with his first touch but was felled by a knee high tackle in his introduction to the game. The FPs managed to hold onto their slender lead and saw out four minutes of additional time to advance into the last sixteen of the cup.

This was a great team effort, and all players contributed to a very open cup-tie, with no quarter given. Whilst  it was great result for the club, the players need to bring this level of application and attitude to every game. Man of the match went to Sean Lees, who stood up to some fierce intimidation throughout the whole match and gave as good as he got.

Team : Brown, Humphreys, Riddell, Mcintosh, Lawson, Lees, Ferrier, Dall, Smith Mathew Gall, Michael Gall    subs Kidd, Buick
