  Arbroath Amateurs 1 AHSFP's 4

Having getting through the group stages of the Tay Valley Shield as best runners up Fp's faced old foes Arbroath Amateurs in the semi-final. Both weather and pitch conditions were perfect and with a sizeable crowd present the stage was set for a gripping derby encounter.
The Amateurs opted for a strong 3-5-2 formation which boasted a host of ex junior players such as Bobby Bell, Stevie Martin and Neil Cargill. Fp's started with their familiar 4-4-2. With Sharp injured and G.Smith and D.Brown reluctantly relegated to the subs bench, manager Smith went with the same players who had got the team to this stage of the competition. That ment starts for 17yr old D.Wilson, makeshift right back R.Fenwick and the ever willing Mikey Gall up front.
To no surprise this match started at a rapid pace with both teams trying to get their hold on the game. With not anytime for pretty football it was all about who wanted the win most. It was Fp's who were coming out on top of the early exchanges and after 20mins their desire and determination payed off. After Ferriers perfectly timed tackle on Webster he played the ball to Mikey Gall, his attempted pass seemed harmless but it managed to elude 'Amateurs Martin and found its way to MATTY GALL who fired first time low and hard into the bottom left hand corner.
Although Fp's were enjoying the lions share of the play it was the 'Amateurs who got back on level terms. Ross's shot beat Saunderson but came back high off the crossbar, as Beattie steadied himself for the rebound 'Fp's Humphreys upended him with a wreckless tackle and the referee pointed to the spot. BEATTIE himself fired home from 12 yards leaving Saunderson with no chance.
Only a minute after the restart 'Fp's should've been behind, Beattie picked out Bell in a two on one situation but the striker carelessly strayed offside letting 'Fp's off the hook. Then only minutes before half-time 'Fp's regained their goal advantage. From D.Smith's corner HUMPHREYS made ammends for his earlier mistake by volleying home from close range and then entertained the crowd with some accrobatic celebrations.
 Half-Time Amateurs 1 Fp's 2
After encouraging words from Harrison and Smith Senior at half-time Fp's continued their determined attitude into the 2nd half. They knew only to well that taking the foot off the pedal would allow the amateurs back into the game. Only 10mins into the second half Fp's put daylight between themselves and their opponents. As Matty Gall tried to flick on Wilsons long throw in the box, Amateurs Martin had two hands around the towering strikers shoulders and a well positioned referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped MCLAREN and he comfortably side footed home.
To the Amateurs credit they never gave in and but for some stout defending and an on form Saunderson in the Fp's goal they could've got themselves back in it. Fp's replaced Kidd and Fenwick with G.Smith and Brown middway through the half. Fp's then put the game beyond doubt. Riddell's long range pass was helped on by Mikey Gall who in turn found his strike partner. MATTY GALL then burst through and beat the onrushing Amateurs keeper with ease.
Towards the end of the match Fp's replaced Mikey Gall with Horan.
Before the final whistle, D.Smith thought he'd made it five but could only look on in disappointment as his free-kick came back off the crossbar. Fp's will now face SS Peter and Pauls in the final and credit must go to the Amateurs for wishing them all the best after a keenly contested match.

Fp's squad. Saunderson, Wilson, Fenwick, Riddell, Humphreys, Kidd, Ferrier, D.Smith, Mclaren, Gall, Gall, Brown, G.Smith & Horan.
