AHSFP's 9 Douglas 1
19 August 2009

Fp's played host to Douglas Amateurs in their first league encounter of the season. Fp's were looking to build on their cup demolition of Shamrock and manager Smith fielded the same starting eleven. Wilson, Lyons and Mikey Gall made up the subs bench.

With players due back from suspension this was these players last chance to make their position their own.

Fp's started well and dominated the opening proceedings, however it was the visitors who opened the scoring. From their first corner a douglas player was left unmarked at the back post, his shot struck Kidds arm from point blank range and the referee harshly pointed to the spot. Brown in the Fp's goal guessed the right way but couldn't keep it out.

This kicked life into Fp's and immediately hit back. A good move down the right ended with Maclaren whipping in a cross which the onrushing GALL smashed into the net from close range.

Fp's took the lead when Riddles ball into the box was dummied by Maclaren to Ferrier who cutely flicked to GALL who made no mistake form six yards.

The third goal was a great team move. Macintosh played the ball inside to Smith who in turn sprayed the ball wide to Kidd, his inch perfect cross was volleyed home by MACLAREN.

Fp's added a fourth on the stroke of half time. Macintosh again supplied Smith who's pace took him past his marker before playing a through ball to SHARP who turned and blasted home.

The second half provided more of the same with Fp's steam rolling their lack luster opponents. SHARP made it five when he pounced on a rebound from a verocious Smith shot.

Fp's sixth goal was something special. A perfectly flighted diagonal ball from Cowie was met on the volley by SHARP and his effort found the top corner, completing his hat-trick.

The tiring Smith was replaced by Lyons. The goals continued to flow and SHARP got his fourth and Fp's seventh when a Kidd corner was headed goalwards by Humphreys and the Fp's forward helped it on into the corner.

The hard working duo of Ferrier and Macintosh were replaced by Wilson and debutant Mikey Gall, Sharp was moved to left midfield but this wouldn't hinder his thirst for goals.

Browns long kick out was headed through by Gall and it was again that man SHARP who ran through and poked home for his fifth to cap off a sublime performance.

Fp's ninth and final goal came from another Kidd corner. Gall rose highest and his goal bound effort was helped into the net by his cousin MIKEY GALL right on full time.

Although this was another excellent team performance it was the outstanding Sharp who was named man of the match.

Team: Brown, Cowie, Macintosh, Riddle, Humphreys, Kidd, Ferrier, Smith, Maclaren, Gall, Sharp, Lyons, Wilson & Mikey Gall.
