Thanks to my mother's enthusiasm and ability to make just about anything, I grew up enjoying crafts and learning skills that have greatly enriched my life. 

When Wollaton Historical & Conservation Society announced an appeal in 2021 for funds to restore the Walled Garden at Wollaton Park, as a creative maker of traditional crafts I asked myself what I could do to raise money. Where do my skills lie, what do I enjoy? Most importantly what am I good at?

I was delighted to have a few answers which also satisfied my passion for traditional skills, colour and texture and eventually enabled £1,000 to be donated to the project.

In 2023 my charities are shared equally between the Royal British Legion Benevolent Fund and The Blood Bikes which is the charity that Wollaton WI are supporting. 

Having a desire to make use of:

• Fabric and trimming left over from various dressmaking and craft projects
• Yarn given to me by friends
• Fruit from the hedgerows and our garden
• Home grown vegetables
• A lot of empty jam jars
