Allie MacDonald

An art college graduate, with an honours degree in drawing and painting, I am currently based in Ross-Shires Black Isle.
The rich landscapes provided by my new home, inspired me to return to painting, after many years absence - raising a large family.

Over time the works have moved from landscapes to interiors, still life and portraiture.
More recently I began working, largely in monochrome and the pieces have developed a more psychological narrative. Conveying , what I hope is an emotional truth about human tenderness and vulnerability, with an element of the ethereal.

Right now I am attempting to progress a series of paintings which will combine a highly realistic, heavily technologised landscape, providing background to a metaphysical host.
I like dichotimies.

In painting, as in dreams, anything is possible, and everything can seem real.
Horses can sprout wings and marble statues come to life. One can escape into a world beyond imagination - and you are invited to join me there.
