Rather than clutter up our NEWS page with appeals I thought I'd create a new page to post our recreation and leisure WANTS (Yes....I know - I need to get out more!)
Donations can be left in the Activities Room at any time or hand them in at Reception.
TROLLEY SHOP VOLUNTEERS
We have now acquired our trolley - what we are now looking for are a small group of helpers willing to give some time to supporting residents in running the shop. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!
VERY PATIENT BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE TEACHER
Our previous teacher is unable to continue teaching residents B.S.L. and we urgently require a replacement. Do you know anyone who could teach interested residents?

ASHCOMBE THEMED DISPLAYS
We are introducing themed displays to the Ashcombe Suite with our first planned theme being "THE SCHOOL ROOM". We have acquired a Victorian school desk as the centrepiece and hope to add in a satchel, pencil case, text books, blackboard, dip pens etc. etc. etc. to give a great taste of bygone school days - anything you have tucked away that you would be willing to donate will be very gratefully received. As the display will be within the Connect Community I cannot guarantee exhibits will survive the display unscathed BUT they will be invaluable in reminiscence sessions.
If you have a school report from 30's, 40's, 50's or 60's that I can photocopy it would be an incredible addition and I promise to return it unscathed after photocopying!!
Our 2nd theme will be Vintage Kitchen and again I will be looking for display items from 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's - kitchen utensils, pots & pans, casserole dishes, jelly mouls,cake tins, china, tray/table cloths, cookery books, aprons or anything else that screams VINTAGE KITCHEN would be absolutely terrific..
HATS, CAPS, HEADGEAR
I'm going to start some "wear a hat, tell a story" sessions and would like a good range of headgear - We have some wedding/ascot style ladies hats but I'd like to add in gents hats & caps....a builders safety hat, motorcycle/cycle helmet....military caps, berets, helmets, nurses cap, chef's tall hat, train drivers cap,Top hat, bowler hat,....alice bands with animal ears - Must be masses that I haven't listed but basically anything that might be worn on the head would be fabulous.
SOCKS
Yes....I did say socks!
I want to create a "sorting" basket of socks for the Ashcombe Suite and would be very grateful for any donations to the basket. Lots of different colours, styles, sizes would be fantastic and offer a great sorting activity and prompt many memories.
If you have a pair of socks you've stuffed to the back of your drawer because you don't like the colour, fit etc. or been given a pair that you hate - PLEASE consider bringing them in so they can be put to very good use.
CDs
We are always very grateful for your donations of CDs and DVDs and put them to very good use - to fill some gaps in our growing collection of CDs I would be particularly grateful for a Dolly Parton CD, 50's rock 'n' roll and Welsh Male Voice Choir.
FABRIC
I'm looking for pieces of cotton fabric for craft work - all colours and designs welcome!
Have you got a blouse that's seen better days but still has recyclable portions? Think of us! A shirt that's frayed at collor/cuffs? Think of us! Bits of lace and trimmings? Think of us!
As always - donations may be left at reception or in the activities room.
