Cultural influenced on my teaching techniques.


Nowadays, student can inquire the information easily by many way of communication. Some of the information has an ambiguous meaning terminology. Some has no solid evidence or unreliable. Some has different connotation follow by different context. All of the above affect on the learning behavior of the students. It made them find out the shortcut to the answer. With no concern about the process of learning or with no eager to learn, Students need to know the result with short time. Spoon-feeding behavior is plays an importance role of learning behavior in this moments.

Its make me change the way of my teaching somehow. I have to find the way to prolong their attention and make media more interesting in their point of view. Also build an inquisitive mind by motivated them to learn by themselves. Make them learn by their heart also, not only their head. Persuade them to think more via my teaching method.   However, Rome wasn’t built in a day. I’ll keep on finding the perfect fit way for my students.

1. What do I want to improve?

I want to improve skill of teaching in terms of motivation.

2. Why do I feel that something could be improved in what I am doing?

The issue that concerns me mostly focuses on my teaching techniques. Because I want to motivate the student to learn more by themselves, I try to find the approaches that relevant to the content that I teach and make it interesting. In my view, inquisitive mind can change the way of learning and studying for the long run.

3. What could I do that might improve what I am doing?

First of all, I have to understand myself and my own thought. Also, understand the nature of my students. Normally, I used a chapter pre-test to get to know my student. I also used open-end questionnaire. Surveys questionnaire is the instrument for evaluate my students for the background and basic knowledge. It will help me reflect their way of though. I also require the student’s learning anticipation and SWAT analysis in my questionnaire.

Secondly, I choose approaches from the majority of the group of my student that fulfills their need to motivate them to learn science. My motivation approach should to have many methods and should to adjustable and adaptable. During the time that I use my motivation techniques, I have to observe my student and interview some of them. The student’s evaluation and self-evaluation is in demand in this stage.

By the end of my teaching course, I have to do assessment by quiz and post-test to know how much the information which is obtained by my student. Compare with the formal method that I used to use, how efficiency and effectiveness differently between my formal and new method of teaching. Few months after my chapter course done, I’ll ask for another test from my old group of students. This test will contain all the information that they used to learn all by my course. So I’ll know that the knowledge that the student gain from me still sustain. The post questionnaire in order to ask the students how to apply this knowledge and link this knowledge to the other information that you recently learn are required as well.
