Welcome to my site, I hope you find something interesting and inspiring.

What you will find here are my conversions of Matchbox, Dinky and Corgi Toys mainly with a heavy haulage theme. Also I will point out some great resource books for anyone wishing to find out about the fascinating world of heavy haulage.

Firstly a bit about my models and collections. As a child I lived on the main arterial route out of Sheffield which meant plenty of opportunities to see and hear some of the large, abnormal load movements coming into and out of the city. With British Steel and Davy's just a few miles down the road, We would see the Pickfords' Scammell combinations rumbling up the road with the huge loads, sometimes two Scammells at the front of the trailer and a pusher at the rear to help on the hills. So it was at this young age I was hooked and have been ever since.

My collection started like most peoples, bits left over from childhood, mostly scratched and played with but easily added to from toy fairs and the like. In the early 1990's I started to collect more often and with the likes of eBay began to buy back the models from my childhood but in excellent condition and with boxes, selling off my tired examples as a way to put more money back into the collection. Around this time Corgi Toys had a makeover and began to produce certificated collectables mainly fifties/sixties cars, sportscars and light commercial vehicles and so the collection began to swell as the prices weren't bad and the models were easy to get hold of.

Mid nineties the Corgi Heavy Haulage range started. The models were based on actual vehicles, Scammells, Diamond T, fodens etc and were painted in the actual colour schemes of the main heavy haulage companies from the fifties/sixties and seventies. The models had a nice look to them, were quite accurate models at the price level they were selling at and so my collection once again began to change. Through eBay and auctions the cars, vans, sportscars and anything that wasn't from a haulage or plant background were sold on and any money used to buy the latest in the Heavy Haulage range.

Eventually after many years I found I had bought all the Corgi models I wanted from the range and decided to start building my own models of trucks not available to buy, using the resource books to gain inspiration and ideas. My models now are usually from the heavier end of the scale and usually from the fifties/sixties again mainly Scammells, which happens to be my favourite truck manufacturer of all time. The Matchbox conversions were made to sell as were the Dinky and early Corgi conversions but the later 1:50th scale Corgi models I have made for my own collection, but I may start making duplicates to sell again.

Anyway, feel free to browse around the models, new ones will be added as they are finished.

These are only the models I have built, my actual collection of factory built lorries numbers many hundreds.

Oh and the reason for the West Coast reference....I had the chance to get away from the city two years ago and grabbed it, I now live in a quiet Scottish fishing village.
